Early Career Fellowship in Hand Therapy
The Early Career Fellowship in Hand Therapy is a 52-week postgraduate program that provides specialised hand therapy training for early career physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
The program is designed to train early career therapists in the practical and pragmatic aspects of working in a primary contact position in private practice. The fellowship provides a structured program of readings, training videos, weekly tasks, mentoring support and tutorials and instils a solid foundation in diagnosis and treatment.
The program is delivered in partnership with the AHTA, the national peak body for hand therapy in Australia.
To participate in this program, individuals must be currently working alongside an experienced practitioner in hand therapy in a clinic or hospital that offers hand therapy.
The program currently runs intakes four times a year – in January, April, July and October.

Who is suitable for the program?
The Early Career Fellowship in Hand Therapy is suitable for occupational therapists and physiotherapists who are interested in becoming a hand therapy practitioner.
In order to complete the on-the-job learning component of the program, individuals must be employed in a clinic or hospital unit that employs at least one experienced hand therapist. If a suitable on-site mentor is unavailable in the existing workplace, Hand Faculty may provide off-site mentoring at our discretion. Additional costs apply. Overseas therapists are welcome to apply.

Who pays the fees?
Fees may be paid by either the employer or the participant.
Employers and participants may also choose to split the fees.
